What Counts as Knowledge Here
Some knowledge has been around forever and still trips people up. The difference between two things that sound alike. A fact everyone repeats that turns out to be wrong. A question that seems to have an obvious answer until you try to explain it out loud.
Other knowledge is new. It arrives through the news. A headline lasts a day, but there is usually a real piece of knowledge inside it, and that part keeps its value long after the story moves on. When we write about something in the news, we are after the lasting answer, not the news cycle.
Both kinds belong here. The sections of the site reflect them: Facts, Differences, Misconceptions, Finance, and Bizarre.
How We Work
We research before we write. Articles are built from primary material where it exists, such as official records, filings, statements from the people involved, and scientific papers, along with reporting from established outlets. We link our sources in the article so you can check them yourself.
Complex subjects get simplified, but not flattened. Estimates are labeled as estimates. Facts that change over time are dated in the text. When we get something wrong, we fix it and say so. The full policy, including how to report an error, is on our Editorial Standards page.
